In order to mitigate manufacturing disruption and the attendant up and downstream impacts, GE is offering free licenses of their remote monitoring software to current customers of their iFix and Complicity automation products. Through remote monitoring solutions plant, manufacturing, and warehouse operations can continue with minimal onsite staff supplemented by remote monitoring from home-based managers.

AI and IIoT remote monitoring solutions for manufacturing could help ensure minimal disruptions in the case of future social distancing, while allowing more flexibility and efficiency for managers needing to monitor multiple sites.

What is the need are you focusing on?

Need for remote automation/manufacturing and operations oversight due to social distancing; more efficient management of on-site operations.

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

Small but mighty, my favorite pivot is by far...Goat 2 Meeting: https://www.fastcompany.com/90490313/you-can-now-book-a-goat-to-liven-up-your-boring-zoom-meeting-yesseriously Simplicity is briliiance: Sweet Farm, an animal sanctuary in Half Moon Bay, otherwise completely shut down and at risk of failure, recognized early on the opportunity presented by the shift to zoom meetings and ideated a quick pivot of offering goat and animal cameos on zoom meetings. With some savvy PR and marketing, Sweet Farm has had over 3000 requests, has been able to recover well beyond the revenue lost as a result of forced closure, and has been able to extend the business to involve other animal sanctuaries and small farms. While perhaps a relatively insignificant service in light of global challenges, the sheer combination of creativity, value recognition, and flawless execution make Sweet Farm and Goat 2 Meeting my favorite.
