Our emails and phone lines at Days for Girls International have been flooded with requests for face masks to distribute to medical personnel, patients and those most vulnerable around the world. Those who know Days for Girls, know that we have 70,000 volunteers and a majority of them are sewists so these calls are not a surprise, but we need more volunteers and resources to reach the millions needing them. Please join us in answering the need!

As a global community that has a long history of stepping up to challenges, we are calling on all of you to help respond to this critical need. Join us to participate in the DfG Masks4Millions response. Our goal is to provide millions of masks to hospitals and clinics, and others in need of masks around the world.

We are asking that right now, in addition to the beautiful Days for Girls menstrual pads that we normally sew to also join in making face masks. Let's make sure we keep everyone safe and frontline workers have the supplies they need.

What is the need are you focusing on?

Shortage of masks globally, challenge of getting material to sewists while they are in lockdown and then distributing masks to those in need. This is more difficult in regions where there is a full lockdown vs. US where we can still travel.

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

We have been making washable menstrual pads for over 12 years and have pivoted within a few days to include face masks. To date we have over 3,500 sewing masks and they have pledged to make 700,000. But we all know that we need millions to meet this demand and to keep people safe.
