Fast Company recently reported that “roughly one in five teens reported having difficulty doing their homework because of a lack of access to computers and the internet.”  Many families that do have computers have only one, shared by all household members and often needed at the same time to meet the demands of work and school.

There are a number of ways to get laptops into the hands of students in need. As they risk falling behind in their academics, access to a computer is a necessity.

High-level ideas:

- Focus laptop donation models to address student needs, as Globetops has done

- Pivot corporate computer replacement programs to distribute used computers through school systems

What is the need are you focusing on?

Many students do not have the hardware they need to meet the demands of school, presenting the high risk that they will fall drastically behind in their academics, which will have long-term effects on students and school systems.

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

Globetops collects, refurbishes, and distributes computers to those in need. They have expanded those they serve to include students in need. Lenovo has greatly contributed to education in response to the COVID-19 crisis, donating $2.4 million in hardware donations support for distance learning education in North America as part of their efforts.
