The goal is to create a website for any community that does not have the resources available to get a site up and running on its own to let people know which businesses and services are open and available during the crisis. It would include which restaurants are open for take-out and delivery as well as any special menus currently being offered. This could include any restaurants that are able to sell "grocery" items at this time. The site would show what services are available to the community. It will have a page listing volunteer opportunities and a place where people in need can request help. The idea would be to take a total community approach by helping remain connected, by supporting local opened businesses and offering help to those who need assistance.

What is the need are you focusing on?

At this time, it is important to keep our communities strong and keep as many of our local businesses open and offering essential services. Not all communities have the ability to keep a website currently updated during this time as businesses pivot to adapt. People will have one site to go to where they can see which places are open and what services are being offered. As many are isolated in their homes, this will offer a sense of community and a platform where people can find ways to support their local businesses and each other. Having communities pull together will make us stronger and offer hope that we will all get through this together.

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

In my local community, several businesses are personally delivering food and other necessities. Some restaurants are selling some grocery staples like dairy, eggs, flour, bread, and even toilet paper. Also, a few restaurants are offering free or discounted meals to those who cannot afford to pay. People are volunteering to grocery shop, go to the pharmacy, and pick up other supplies for older neighbors or others in need of assistance. Basically, our community is trying its best to stay connected and supportive of each other during this time.
