A technology solution for more effective remote doctor-patient interactions, Japan's HoloEyes VR startup is offering remote doctor's visits during Covid-19 social distancing through their app.

Adding an additional level of interaction, engagement, and resolution beyond telehealth or video conferencing, HoloEyes and other VR healthcare technologies could provide solutions for conditions of greater complexity, necessitating visual review that goes beyond narrative and conversation. Particularly in partnership with other IoT smart health devices such as smart thermometers, pacemakers, and blood sugar/blood pressure monitoring devices, these VR-enabled visits could allow physicians to evaluate and monitor patients with more complex conditions remotely, eliminating much of the need for in-person visits.

What is the need are you focusing on?

The need for non-Covid healthcare continues, although many clinics are shuttered and elective procedures are on hold; VR technology provides a way for patients and doctors to continue to engage remotely.

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

Small but mighty, my favorite pivot is by far...Goat 2 Meeting: Simplicity is briliiance: Sweet Farm, an animal sanctuary in Half Moon Bay, otherwise completely shut down and at risk of failure, recognized early on the opportunity presented by the shift to zoom meetings and ideated a quick pivot of offering goat and animal cameos on zoom meetings. With some savvy PR and marketing, Sweet Farm has had over 3000 requests, has been able to recover well beyond the revenue lost as a result of forced closure, and has been able to extend the business to involve other animal sanctuaries and small farms. While perhaps a relatively insignificant service in light of global challenges, the sheer combination of creativity, value recognition, and flawless execution make Sweet Farm and Goat 2 Meeting my favorite.
