COVID-19 has forced people to stay at home and it has given us a month long Sunday. But this isolation at home is taking a toll on mental health and during such times people are coming up with various creative activities and sharing it on social media platforms with two main objective, first to showcase their skills and second to inspire others.
In this case I believe social media plays a very important role because the customer engagement on those platforms have increased than ever. Facebook, Instagram are flooded with cooking, workout, mandala paintings, singing, dancing and various other creative videos. By doing that three parties are simultaneously being benefited at the same time. The platform used for such purpose brings in customer traffic, person who posts the video gains popularity and people on the viewers get entertainment.
During the pre COVID-19 people have never thought they could have done what they are currently doing and it's forcing them to do something everyday. Apart from patients who are being affected, people who are quarantined who are not able to cope up with this isolation face with depression and anxiety.
New York University has started hosting meditation and yoga sessions online to help people not feel alone and keep them busy.
