As the pandemic increase in Liberia most especially Monrovia the capital city it brought fear to many people, keeping them lock-down for months and can’t provide for their family this is very pathetic. Therefore, my attention has be drawn to people who families have contacted the Covid-19 in many communities and have been stigmatize. With this I have decided to focus my project on the stigmatizing families, this project will be called ‘’Protecting Stigmatizing Families with Corona-virus in Liberia’’. These families have been look down upon and everybody have avoided them, even if they survival the pandemic, and many cannot live with this fear of stigmatization. They believe that the world have turn against their family due to the effect of Covid-19 pandemic. Currently my innovation/project I’m working on will encourage and protect families who were effected by Covid-19 to have hope in living their lives again this project will be in two form

  • To carried on massive awareness on radio, television, newspaper, communities’ engagement etc. Under the theme ‘’ stop stigmatizing Covid-19 effected families” because this could be your mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, ante, etc.
  • Working with effected families to start a new lives after the end of the pandemic by; counseling, encouraging, promoting, and engagement every aspect of their lives until they have regain fully (stand on their own ) and be accepted in the society.

What is the need are you focusing on?

''Protecting Stigmatizing Families with Corona-virus in Liberia’’

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

This inspiration came about when I saw a frustrating situation recently in my community. On April 12, 2020 one member of a family (a health worker) was diagnose of covid-19 and government decided to currentee the family who came in contact with the infected person with the exception of a little girl (age 16) who was not showing any sign of the virus. The medical team remove the entire family to the currentee center with the exception of the little girl . The entire community become to look down on the girl by calling her names, after three days the little girl decided to take her own life by hanging herself because of stigmatization it was when she got notice by a neighbor and was rescue half-dead, she currently in the hospital undergoing treatment. Could you imaging if she could have destroy her life because of stigmatization from the community. With this I was move, therefore I decided to write a project on ‘’ ’Protecting Stigmatizing Families with Corona-virus in Liberia’’
