Leveraging their experiences feature that links travelers with locals for tours, classes, and other experiences, AirBnb is now making this feature digital.

Offerings range from cooking classes, dance lessons, and virtual tours of historic sites, including, reportedly, a remote tour of Chernobyl where you can meet the dogs resident in the historic site.

Tourism has been perhaps the hardest-hit of all industries in the Covid-19 crisis, and AirBnB savvy pivot provides a powerful marketing channel for many otherwise shuttered businesses while generating some cash flow in the process.

What is the need are you focusing on?

-remote connection and experience! -providing cashflow and revenue for hard-hit tourism industry -creating new channels for connecting remotely with customers

What is the best example of business adaption you’ve seen in response to COVID-19?

Small but mighty, my favorite pivot is by far...Goat 2 Meeting: Simplicity is briliiance: Sweet Farm, an animal sanctuary in Half Moon Bay, otherwise completely shut down and at risk of failure, recognized early on the opportunity presented by the shift to zoom meetings and ideated a quick pivot of offering goat and animal cameos on zoom meetings. With some savvy PR and marketing, Sweet Farm has had over 3000 requests, has been able to recover well beyond the revenue lost as a result of forced closure, and has been able to extend the business to involve other animal sanctuaries and small farms. While perhaps a relatively insignificant service in light of global challenges, the sheer combination of creativity, value recognition, and flawless execution make Sweet Farm and Goat 2 Meeting my favorite.
