Day to day production, Access and sharing of information on COVID-19 pandemic is of great benefit though rural Africa is left behind.
I have found small videos produced by individuals and shared on WhatsApp to be one of the best information resource about COVID-19.
It clearly shows the process of disseminating the virus from one individual to another easily, quickly and unknowingly. The message it delivers surely sinks deeper into one's mind for appropriate action. See the inserted video
Upload or share a link to this resource/message/source of information to share it with others.
The video shows the process of disseminating the virus from one individual to another easily, quickly and unknowingly. Second video shows how you can take care of yourself socially in consideration of COVID-19. Third video is produced locally and it shows how children can also act responsibly while considering COVID-19 dangers. Unfortunately, with poor access to internet, lack of electricity and of access to smart phones, majority of rural community people miss such very useful information.
In what ways did you change your behaviors as a result of this resource?
I consider everything to be contaminated unless otherwise it is disinfected by myself; else, I consider social distancing and staying home as the best options.
What information do you feel you are missing about COVID-19?
-Identification and testing
-Basic treatment and care of an infected person.
What populations or personas are not currently being addressed with today’s COVID-19 information?
In this respect, rural community people in Africa and Uganda in particular are under-served. It is hard to have access to audio-visual information in rural communities due to a great number of access challenges. The information need to be designed in local languages because many are illiterate. Pictorial messages which can be pinned on noticeboard of worship places, trees around the villages, etc are very important. Also, small booklets in local languages can be distributed to people.
