I live in Melbourne, Australia and I travelled to India on 28th Feb. Since there is complete lock-down, I cannot travel back. Well, I realised that I found the most valuable information about COVID-19 through Indian news channels. There has been constant broadcast of information about how to fight this virus. All the measures/ precautions are telecasted in all channels and in regular intervals. This has been successful in reaching the mass. Besides that there has been awareness through recorded dial-in messages. It ensured that it reaches people who do not watch television. Also, India's prime minister also addressed the entire nation and touched upon each and every points in detail in regards to COVID-19. Apart from this, known celebrities are recorded messages are being telecasted.

Government is sending text messages to spread awareness.

Did this resource motivate you to change your behaviors?

  • Yes

In what ways did you change your behaviors as a result of this resource?

I became aware of my cleanliness such as continuous use of sanitiser if I stepped out of home, using mask and not touching face. Disposing mask after use or sanitising it for re-use. I ensure that I do not let my parents step out since through televisions, I was aware to take extra care of older people.

Did you share this information with your network?

  • Yes

Where are you getting information around COVID-19?

  • National Government
  • News: Television
  • Word of Mouth
  • SMS Alerts

What information do you feel you are missing about COVID-19?

nothing as such.

What populations or personas are not currently being addressed with today’s COVID-19 information?

I feel the underprivileged people are not being addressed properly. Especially the daily wager earners whose income is badly affected in this crisis. Since they do not have place to live or eat, they re migrating to their home towns leading to the fear of virus spread.

I feel government should have a better plan to take care of the daily wage earners/ underprivileged people to prevent their movement.
