Remote Connections

We're brainstorming with friends and family how we can make our usual interactions remote-friendly so that we all stay connected & supported

Related to staying connected and supported within our communities, I've seen and appreciated the following:

  • Fitness leaders and gyms offering free resources for home practice and remote classes- great for maintaining physical and mental health, as well as the community many of us benefit from when we are part of a gym or fitness studio or sport
  • Discussions with work colleagues about remote-friendly ways to stay connected as a team (despite not having a shared office)- helps to provide an avenue for talking about some of these challenges and feels good to "do something" to help
  •  IG posts and hashtags that focus on mental health, positivity, and wellness- great to reframe the current situation in a more positive light and to get great ideas about how to stay positive and well during this challenging time

Despite all of the above, I think there's still a huge gap in any more established or formal resources that can be provided to the general population. I wish there were PSAs or large companies or government entities speaking about the effect of isolation and fear on mental health and what to do to improve the situation.

I'm exercising at home on a daily basis. I'm also trying to work mentally to accept the current environment and reframe the "negatives" into "positives". 

Knowing that we are all going through this together helps me to stay calm and positive.

What information do you feel you are missing about COVID-19?

A comprehensive set of "Best Practices" and "How you can help"- these kinds of resources could do a lot to calm people's fears, help them feel like they can contribute towards positive outcomes, and feel like they have some sense of control over the situation. 

What populations or personas are not currently being addressed with today’s COVID-19 information?

New parents need information and support about bringing their child into the world during this crisis (& in the absence of forms of support they might normally have relied upon)

Teenagers & young adults need to know why this matters to them; they need accurate & reliable information in a format that they will consume

Senior Citizens need to know what resources are available to them & how they can stay safe, healthy, & connected to the outside world
