It reduced anxiety and panic. As an individual with sensitivity to changes in weather, a sneeze can cause havoc and panic. The scan based on permutation and combination helped to self estimate and work on self care instead of getting fearful of what if i am also a carrier. Despite no travel history, presence of one symptom or two can feel like a threat. In the ideal case scenario everyone should be tested , however with given the current medical facilities and testing capabilities, it is critical to priortise tests and address most critical cases.
What information do you feel you are missing about COVID-19?
New govt portal is centralised, https://www.mohfw.gov.in/ helped to put facts and figures in perspective. The information must be reliable. The free floating information was creating fear, panic and perception of distress and helplessness. Instead of passing on distressed information, there needs to be more platform that inform people on what and how can they help the situation. Focus needs to be retained on being constructive to avoid mass hysteria and panic.
What populations or personas are not currently being addressed with today’s COVID-19 information?
People who may not have access to social media. Marginalized sections, due to lack of smart phone, money, accessibility or being in remote areas. This would include daily wage workers. Villages and rural areas with limited access. This is specific to India context. Must be made available in regional languages.
