Supporting vulnerable people during the Covid19 outbreak
How might we facilitate the daily routine of the most vulnerable people within small communities (e.g. condominiums) during the isolation of lockdown?
Our inspiration: "La tombola scostumata" and the possibility of doing things together even if at a distance.
In Italy we use to help each other between neighbors, it’s natural, cultural, ancient, it’s in our roots. We know our neighbors, we care about them both for important things like for fun or sociality. Coronavirus hit Italy very hard, suddenly all the people were locked in their house without no possibility of going out.
With vulnerable neighbours and relatives being told to self-isolate, many small communities are rallying around.

In what ways did you change your behaviors as a result of this resource?
We realize that everyone can do something, it doesn't matter if small or common.
These kinds of support are very important in moments of loneliness, anguish and fear. Most actions are simple and impromptu but can become replicable and technology-facilitated models.
Everyone might help someone else. Everyone can do something.
In Italy we comunicate through Whatsapp but it is not enough.
Our idea is to identify models and tools that support neighbors to help each other during the lockdown like:
- Pick up shopping
- Deliver medicine
- Dog walking
- Do things together (even if at a distance)
- Keep informed about health conditions of the neighbors
- Spend time and make laughs with small daily activities
- be human :)

We communicate through our Whatsapp groups and talking with colleagues and friends about it, everyone said that would be amazing to set something less local and more designed and pervasive.

What populations or personas are not currently being addressed with today’s COVID-19 information?
We think that there must be different levels: information must be designed by experience designer but then spread through local networks, information must turn back to the designer that must work on it building a narrative. Professional>people>professional>people>...
