I think fear/doom messaging has been interesting in getting people towards the call of action, however, it tapped into lots of social inequity in our society today. The world is urbanizing and capitalism has made us to believe that we alone can change the world. When in reality, what we face as a society are a product of a system, and those who are left behind or are exploited are being thrown to the bone by design.
Communities have begun starting to build up enthusiastic, engaged people that want to feel like they're doing something. Twitter is being used more than ever, and social media such as instagram is also being leveraged.
However the success of the messaging around COVID-19, there are lots of young people who now distrust media due to its psychological and behaviour nudging towards inaction, fascism, and "fake news" - there needs to be ways to empower young people to re-engage with different generations and help them feel like they are part of the community even within social isolation.
