COVID Diaries is a podcast that documents stories from Filipinos from all walks of life throughout the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
PumaPodcast’s own podcast interview with a Filipino couple that tested positive for COVID-19 is powerful in its ability to humanize the disease, the experience of going through it, and even in translating technicalities, protocols, and the science and medicine around the crisis, into a conversation that people can understand and relate with. In the end, the testimony of real people, speaking in their real (still-recovering) voices, expresses fear, anxiety, and urgency, and yet humor still comes through, knowledge remains the driving message, and ultimately - even as it acknowledges the worst case scenarios for the most vulnerable sectors - it still ends up ultimately reassuring.
In what ways did you change your behaviors as a result of this resource?
It encouraged us to be more deliberate and conscientious in our consumption of content. To take on a more rational and calm demeanor, to consume equally urgent but unhurried conversations, and not just blaring updates tracking numbers that by themselves can be informative but not necessarily constructive or instructive in terms of how one should behave.
In what ways did you share this information?
We shared this information in our chat groups and social media pages which include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
What information do you feel you are missing about COVID-19?
I wish we could hear more stories of recovery and of survival. While it is important that we report the realities of the virus and its impact, we must also give people hope and a path forward.
