My idea involve building a complex telemedicine system consisting of an APP, WEBSITE and USSD CODE system which will enable patients to consult Doctors virtually at the comfort of their homes.

Telemedicine is largely in the form of Tele-counselling done though a mixture of sharing the clinical details (EMR) of the patient along with a video conference to understand the problem and proffer advice.

"A person can call a hotline number, which is answered by someone who walks them through downloading our app if they don't have the app already on their phone or tablet. They can also log in on a computer. Then a time is scheduled when a provider will be available for the virtual visit, which is a video visit much like FaceTime or Skype, it is called Digital Connect” Calling an emergency number is not enough, healthcare must start there, the patient must feel he is taken care of at this very first contact.

For this without access to Internet, they can text a USSD code system which will give them access to Doctors for consultation.

A physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner conducts the virtual visit.
Of course ,the  clinicians will be related to a provider and  they can  be supplemented with clinicians from urgent care centers and primary care clinics who have spare time. There are lots of volunteers ready and able to help.

This service will be accessible by everyone living in Nigeria.

What is the need are you focusing on?

In the current crisis scenario, no patient wants to visit a hospital and in other hand all doctors need to maintain social distance from the patient in an attempt to protect themselves. However, even if Every Doctor refuses to see the COVID affected and refer them to specialize centres, the incidence of other diseases, e.g.  diabetes and its day to day care needs like an ulcer in the foot, diarrhoea, cancer, Heart, toothache etc is not going to go down. And even 85% of the COVID affected also can stay at home to avoid overloading of all hospitals and give their infection to others notably the hospital staff. Is it possible to manage such problems even while maintaining social distance? The answer is Yes and that is through Telemedicine.
