I am seeking for funding to pilot the Tech Me Home Offline Classes Project. This is the first ever education innovation in Uganda. The proposed funding will be for a period of three (1) year after which the project can sustain its operations.
Tech Me Home Offline Class simply means turning a learner’s home into a temporary classroom with the use of high quality (HD) pre-recorded curriculum –based video lessons that can be played on a TV, DVD player or smart phone hence replacing online learning and making the program reachable to anyone.
Learners will be able to use skype to conduct a video consultation with subject teachers in real time. Class-wise whatsapp groups will be formed and with the help of messaging, voice notes, snapshots both learner-learner and teacher – learner interaction during topical discussions is enabled. Parents/care takers of the learners will take a supervisory role to make sure learners are actively involved in the learning sessions. Extra resources between lessons will always be given to learners to read more and understand the topics. School administrators and teachers will use whatsapp groups for teachers, video conferencing and weekly news letters to share feedback.
