Problem :

Restaurants are one of the most affected businesses by the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown. This has effectively caused these businesses to get distant from their customers due to social distancing. As time passes, this ridge gets deeper and causes unforeseeable and uncertain harm to restaurants, big or small.

The once-loyal Customers, now in lockdown, curb their hunger needs through online food delivery. And socializing at a restaurant seems like a distance memory.


Opportunity :
Most restaurants are actively working on preparing their restaurants according to the regulations. But the time between now and the time they reopen, they could potentially lose a large % of their customers.
This is the gap where I see an immense opportunity. Connect these restaurants back to their customers in a new role and also potentials create a new customer base for when they reopen.


Introducing TOLA which is Tokens of Love and Appreciation.

Restaurants now can open up a line of communication with their customers. Use TOLA as a way to use newer services the restaurants are providing, offer customers to buy a future dinner at their restaurant or even get people to help out on a social cause. 

What is the need are you focusing on?

Identifying The Gap: From now to the time restaurants finally open up, these businesses become stagnant and also get distant from their customers. 

Need: A need for a means to connect the two arises. Creating opportunities for customers to engage with the restaurants and in turn, support them even in this lockdown situation

TOLA has 3 standard token options to offer + 1 unique offer: 1. Subscribe to a restaurant: While we wait to reopen, Some of the Restaurants have something new to offer! This would be something unique to a restaurant, like a Masterclass or Cook your favorite recipe or some innovative engagement the restaurants have to offer. 2. Gift a Thank you: People get a chance to thank those fighting this war against the COVID-19 virus from the front lines, the Healthcare workers, Police Personnel, Doctors, Waste management personnel, and many more such heroes. Send a token of your love by buying them a meal or two. 3. Treat Yourself: As a reward for patiently waiting and saving the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we offer people to buy themselves or their friends or loved ones, a wonderful evening, after all, this is over. 4. Unique to the restaurant: Keeping an option open for something that would be unique to a restaurant. From feeding the people in need to offering a contest to win a meal

Potential : 1.This would help restaurants survive during this crisis. TOLA could create the bridge the businesses need to crossover to the other side of this crisis with minimum damage. 2. It also creates an opportunity for Businesses to help do what they can for a social cause like providing for the needy, helping out the superheroes like healthcare workers, and police personnel. 3. In a bigger picture, it provides a way for the customers to look forward to a future when things would return to a normal, well a new normal at least.

I would love to partner up with restaurants to implement this and work with them to decide on what they could offer as a token to their customers. Also, I need help to develop this app as I don't have the expertise for it. Anyone who has the potential to bring this idea to life, I would love to connect with you

What do you think are the main barriers to implementing this solution?

Funding and Reach to people who can actualize a business idea. I am an Experience (UX, CX) designer, also trying my hand in entrepreneurship. and currently a student.
