With the new COVID-19 virus spreading, this could be a good opportunity for places to redesign there interiors to give the proper space that is required to insure safety from spreading the virus

What is the need are you focusing on?

Restaurants can now worry less about having employees cleaning tables, mopping in between so many extra empty chairs. I also believe that this will further insure the safety of customers, giving them more space to walk around the place and less chances for people to accidentally bump into each other. People bump into each other all the time in fast food, because of all the extra tables and small spaces to walk through, and simply getting rid of a few extra tables, doesn't seem like that much of a problem to begin with. The new Virus has definitely teed the human limits, but if people ever intend to go back to living normally, I believe we need to start, with heavy social distancing, even while inside restaurants and stores, which is why more space is required to respect that.

Which type of submission are you sharing?

  • Sharing a pivot idea your organization is considering or could consider

Describe the business pivot or adaptation in 3-4 sentences.

Restaurants and honestly future companies in general are gonna need to start considering space management when people start coming out of quarantine. Offices are going to need to be less jam packed, deep cleaning services and employee's must respect distancing. If we want to be able to live without the virus being a constant fear, we need to make the interior of offices, restaurants and even convenience stores more space friendly and that is how people will be able to keep practicing social distancing, without even realizing it.

Do you plan to implement this solution?

  • Maybe-with additional support

Describe the impact that this solution will create in the world.

I think people will soon realize how much more space there is in places when you start to see all the empty chairs gone. I think people will feel less claustrophobic and people won't be as scared to go inside of a place that has plenty of room and to be able to wait or eat peacefully.

What is your profession?

Graphic Design

Where are you located (country)?

United States

Where are you located (region)?

  • North America

What industry is your business/company in?

  • Student

What kind of stakeholders and partnerships are needed to pursue this solution?

  • Stakeholders/Partnerships- Civil Society Groups
  • Stakeholders/Partnerships- Grassroots/Community Groups

Do you need help building partnerships and finding partners?

  • Yes

If Yes to the above, please share 1-2 sentences describing the specific help you desire.

If we would want this to play in full effect I would need to support of the community and civil society, to be able to spread the idea around to see if we can get enough people to encourage restaurants to lessen the amount of seating's inside.

What do you think are the main barriers to implementing this solution?

Company's desire for quantity and it might cost a little extra, but I feel like cleaning companies are going to play a big role when it comes to keeping all the space clean too.

If you are currently working on a pivot, what have you learned so far?

Are you aware of any open source efforts, hackathons or other collaborative efforts related to your solution? Are you participating in these efforts?
