The underprivileged community, unfortunately, is the one to face the grunt of any global catastrophe. With the Indian government trying to help bring food grains to the community at a lower price with the help of ration/aadhaar cards, many families are being abandoned due to lack of food. This application will ensure the correct items as ordered by a family are provided for pickup at a desirable slot that the family themselves have the freedom to select. The payment methods are also linked along with, to ensure complete transparency, which is a major drawback in the vast cycle of corruption that occurs in the Indian market. The request forms along with complain/feedback features are also provided in the application. A major functionality to be highlighted is the News Announcements which will filter out the fake misleading information being provided to the poor which is causing most to run away or commit suicide than become the face of the virus in their community. The application can further be used for relief distribution that the government provides in time of a catastrophe such as floods. The public will be allowed to opt-in or opt-out of the distribution according to their wishes which will further lead in reducing corruption here.

What is the need are you focusing on?

The need for the underprivileged society to sustain in these hard times, since the COVID-19 is a rich man's disease.

Which type of submission are you sharing?

  • Identifying a gap that needs to be addressed

Describe the business pivot or adaptation in 3-4 sentences.

A mobile application that will tie-up with the government to order food grains through their ration/aadhaar card. Build a comprehensible application for the general public (Ration card holders) to prevent delay/ corruption in procurement of food grains and to ensure timely collection of relief funds/materials during a national catastrophe (e.g. COVID19 & floods)  During a crisis, the Government is the only source for the poor.

Do you plan to implement this solution?

  • Yes

Describe the impact that this solution will create in the world.

In times of crisis, such as the ongoing COVID-19 Outbreak, standing in long queues or even stepping out during the time of lockdown can cause the middle class/poor families to be more prone to interact with the virus. When the government plans to release relief funds and materials, people flood near the ration shop and with the involvement of corruption in the process of distribution of fund/materials to the poor families, the benefit of PDS does not reach the needy poor sections of the society. During a national catastrophe, people receive fake information from media as the government press releases are not given directly. The poorer sections of the society often suffer from misleading data from other sources like social media and even news channels. Families holding ration cards procuring their household items from the ration shops are very often cheated of their rights. e.g. People receive less grains than allotted. Managers of ration shops often supply less food grains to the poor.

Thank you for sharing your idea Suruchi Khetarpal . The prototype made me understand the idea more. What has been the progress around testing the prototype?
