I am a retired federal employee for US Customs. I propose the US government/or States issue color coded badges green for negative, yellow for negative but once positive and red for positive for the Covid-19 virus. The badges could be updated using technology every two weeks for additional testing until a vaccine is found. Only Americans with green or yellow badges would be allowed to work, travel by mass transit, bus, boat (cruises), or plane, and attend University and people with red badges would be quarantined. I also propose using thermometers/scanners at offices, mass transit, and shopping areas to identify people with fevers who should be tested and badges revised accordingly. I believe this is a cost-effective way to allow Americans to go back to work. Also, it would not infringe on privacy as would tracking cell phones. In addition, this would reduce costs for contact tracing, as people with badges would be immediately eliminated.  This methodology could also be used in third world countries as it is low cost.

What is the need are you focusing on?

Business, transportation, and government need a way to make the public feel comfortable in enclosed settings without spending enormous amounts of money separating people.  Also, in contact tracing, this could exclude large amounts of people saving money if person negative.

Describe the impact that this solution will create in the world.

Perhaps a low cost way to keep track of Covid-19 without the fear of "Big Brother" government.

Retired federal employee. Now substitute teacher.

Where are you located (region)?

  • North America

Having a database which is accurate and includes all Covid-19 test results. Some people may not wear badges all the time.
