An economic commons would enable communities and companies alike in building the capacity to respond to global challenges with ease, grace, and coherency. With this digital flow chart and ledger, transactions of diverse equity would be broadcast as an expression of compassion through the very infrastructure of our interdependence. As a holistic exchange model, it uses an economic framework around Inter-Generational Equity as the premise of exchange in the emerging stewardship of economies, ecologies, and societies. Inter-Generational Equity (IGE) is the formal recognition and protection of healthy soil, clean air, pure waters, and original living codeces of DNA. This system suggests that no new technologies are necessary but simply a new synthesis of already occurring ones. Of these are namely: visual data, agreement field, social media, phone app, online cloud, local kiosks and responsible AI. These technologies are the hardware. The software is our human agency acting in reciprocity with nature and with mutual engagement towards abundant equipotency.
This idea is not static but agile in that users are also stakeholders in advancing a new model of checked growth rather than rampant endless growth visible in extractive wealth practices. In nature, the pattern of business as usual is called cancer as endless growth degrades the health of ecologies, limits human potential, and robs future generations of their ability to thrive. With IGE as the primary function and basis of exchange it becomes possible to enact the collective aspiration to resolve and out-model inequality, disparity, and conflict. The framework facilitates the peer-to-peer expression of thriving or restoration in the form of climate resilience, empowering women/girls, emission drawdown, reparations, abundant local businesses, bio-remediation, indigenous rights, cradle-to-cradle production, cooperative business models, dismantling structural racism, demilitarization, and organic food sovereignty. Regeneration can occur and must occur not only in ecologies but between the fabric of what defines our role in this world as humans.
