The Sidewalk Gallery Cafe is a project of students from the Uni-Y at NUS, and is a special coffee place that serves the community in many ways.

Not only do they serve, as I was told, excellent coffee, but they also serve the community. First of all, the profits will go back into the cafe to improve services, but also flow back to the Uni-Y to help fund other projects aimed at community service.

Also, the Sidewalk Gallery Cafe is a place of learning for students of the social enterprise programme of Uni-Y. It helps these students to improve their skills.

More importantly, maybe, the Sidewalk Gallery Cafe is a workplace for people like Tai Yuan, who stars in the video.

I think the Sidewalk Gallery Cafe is an excellent example of how Singaporeans are already working to bring communities together. And because I haven't been there yet myself, I've put it high upon my list of places to visit when I'll be in Singapore next.
