Dekalb Market was a new community destination in Brooklyn. Dekalb Market, was housed in a collection of salvaged shipping containers, that brought together Brooklyn’s creative entrepreneurs in a community setting that include an incubator farm.
Dekalb Market used a space to develop a community destination. They reused salvaged shipping containers to house various vendors to test their businesses out as entrepreneurs. The shipping containers created a physical hub with a host of events such as music, performances, yoga and dance. This space also hosted gardens and provided educational workshops that brought people of different ages and families together.
I frequently visited the market and enjoyed the independent nature and vibe of the unique space. It was a temporary project that recently ended last month.
Here's more information about Dekalb Market. It would be great to see something similar be developed.
