Connecting people on public transport

Every day around the world, people take public transport yet do not interact with each other. It would be cool to make use of this time by having pull down note tabs with pens attached to start a story. Or a Note (eg Samsung Galaxy Note) to write on.

You can write one word or sentence. There can be 'suggested' rules to help with the interaction of people in the vehicle. Eg you can ask people near you for help. Like solving a crossword puzzle..

Hey Kim, perhaps there a way to enable people to 'Check In' to whatever public transport they are taking and then join into some of group discussion board or daily activity. I love the idea of the train carriage or the back of the bus becoming a new 'water cooler' moment of the day to chat, gossip and share.

Good Idea Kim! A problem that quite prevalent here in London as well !! The tube experience would be much be better only if people would interact and connect more!!

Hello Kim!

Nice idea! I have a friend who's working on a thesis project on improving Social Interaction on buses in Singapore. This is a problem we experience here in Singapore after the proliferations of smartphones. Love to hear more about this topic!

Hi Kim, interesting post! Any chance you could find an image to go along with it? Images help grab attention and tell a story with higher impact. You should be able to use the 'Update entry' button on the right of your post and follow the instructions to add images from there. We know occasionally people have issues uploading images so let us know by hitting the Support tab on the left hand side of most pages of our site if you face any problems. Looking forward to seeing more of your inspiring ideas on OpenIDEO.
