Singapore Stories

A digital archive which hosts a series of stories fed by citizens to share and sustain local history. This social space would host user generated content but also mediate real time action by facilitating a series of meet up's / social events.

This concept promotes the sharing of stories directed by local citizens. Through social media stories could be captured and shared. Through digital and analogue storytelling people could come together to exchange their knowledge.

The aim would be to support cross generational exchange passing on stories from one generation to the next.

How does your concept inspire collaboration between individuals, private sector organisations, and the government in an effort to create cleaner neighbourhoods?

This concept aims to connect people by providing them with a platform to voice their contribution, share their experiences and connect them to others. To facilitate storytelling themes could be promoted through a call for participation to promote engagement. If these stories draw upon personal experience the narrative becomes people centred and builds upon real situations and experiences which could be referenced to inspire change or address key issues within the community.

How might your concept be scaled in a way that creates even more connections between people?

The concept could implement a social platform as an intervention to prompt people to share local experiences / rituals and traditions. This would aim to celebrate past and present action to inspire new future contexts.

How might you design a small experiment around your concept that would mobilise action?

A blog could be established to pilot this concept and promote / circulate a call for participation. A series of real time events could be hosted within a local community inviting people to come together. A series of interactive activities could be curated in advance to mediate this exchange and encourage interaction. This could be simple, playful but effective in drawing from local knowledge and wisdom. A storytelling toolkit could also be prototyped to support this concept.
