Local SGstarter for integrating the community in future projects

Through “crowd-wisdom” people can participate and be part of the development of Singapore. This will allow them to feel part of a big community that work together for a better future.

In this local website the Government can publish the projects they want to develop and then the communities can vote and support them. This will give the people who live in Singapore the opportunity to create a better city and suggest ideas or needs based on their experience. Projects would be divided in the website by communities, making it easier for the people to search for their own community’s projects.

Apart from the Government projects, the people can also create new ones, maybe being inspired by other community’s projects, and if they reach certain popularity they can be submitted and consider by the Government for further development.

Private companies can also support with funding the projects, becoming true projects ambassadors.

How does your concept inspire collaboration between individuals, private sector organisations, and the government in an effort to create cleaner neighbourhoods?

Leaving the people of Singapore the opportunity to express their opinion and voting for what they believe is really important will create a bond between people of the different small communities and will make them feel part of the development. The open platform also for private companies will allow building projects together. If one of the people’s projects is being develop, the owner of the idea would be involved in the development following the progress and participating with his ideas.

How might your concept be scaled in a way that creates even more connections between people?

Communities can also vote other communities projects, thus interconnecting in a network that can reach the Singapore city size. This way the most relevant projects have the chance to be implemented on a national level still being relevant for most of local communities. This inter-exchange of information and experiences would help to connect different small multicultural communities in Singapore (Chinatown, little India, Arab street…)

How might you design a small experiment around your concept that would mobilise action?

It would start with a prototype (beta version) for one community evaluating how the people get involved and approach the project. In a second place, this prototype will also allow the collaboration between few selected communities. Of course it might be promoted and well communicated to show the people how does it work and the benefits of participating in local projects.
