The Zika virus can make anyone sick for up to a week with fever, rash, joint pain, red eyes, and other symptoms. But it's especially dangerous for women who are pregnant or considering pregnancy because it increases the risk of babies born with microcephaly, a condition marked by an abnormally small head and incomplete brain development.

The CDC emphasizes that avoiding mosquito bites requires multiple strategies, such as wearing long-sleeved pants and shirts when outdoors. But it says that mosquito repellents are essential, too.

In order to reduce mosquito bites, there should be repellent stations at every interval just like we have hand sanitizer stations at every 50 m in hospitals for people to keep themselves moisturised with repellent. Also, in countries most affected with ZIKA, every shopper should be given a mosquito repellent/ cream as a freebie just to keep them informed and protected from ZIKA. There is not much cost added to this but will surely save lives of many. All it requires is small sample packs of repellents for immediate use of people. But the main reason would be driving the customers to purchase a repellent and be aware of the virus.

Hi Kathy

Not only Public rest rooms but every possible public spaces that are prone to  mosquitoes. For e.g.  Parks, Highway rest areas, shopping malls, etc. Installing a repellent spray shouldn't cost much. Also the no. of lives you could save would be way more than the cost involved. More then saving its a means to create awareness I feel.
