"Hey...are those solar panels on your roof?"

I posted a picture on FB of something in front of my house, but the solar panels on the roof of my house got all the attention!

In the deep south, people believe all sorts of crazy stories about solar power.  It was nice to have people asking me questions so I could clear up misconceptions.  The curious ones identified themselves and by asking they didn't feel threatened if they learned that some of their information was "wrong."  I'd rather talk about solar energy anyway.

Hi Annette! Fantastic to see you on OpenIDEO and contributing to our Climate Innovator stories challenge! What a great opportunity to begin a dialogue about renewable energy in your community! What might a next step in telling your story as a climate innovator be? Hosting a renewable energy night in your community and documenting it? Continuing the dialogue you've begun on social media and interviewing some of the people you're talking with to build understanding? I'm excited to see how this might evolve!

I've invited my friends who are holding an event on October 9 here in Shreveport, La. to publish their own stories here.

My friends created a great slideshow and had 75 people show up but only ONE PERSON took a photo! I'm working on it. I want them to post it on slideshare and we have an event on Wednesday to write letters - I think it is coordinated with 350.org. I may organize a local storytelling/video workshop for locals. I've written a bit about storytelling and have some friends who produce documentaries. I like the muse course on video storytelling but I think we need something more basic - for iPhones I've taken Joe Lambert's course (center for digital storytelling) but it's more about expressing than it is about creating something persuasive. We need a short course seeded with info on how to be persuasive.

Great Initiative Annette.
Do you store solar energy and is it common in your community?
