A normal single-use bottle can contain 600 ml water, but it is very harmful to the environment. A plastic bottle cannot resolve itself. It takes around 100-300 years for waste plastics to resolve the harmful substance. United States produces 7 billion kilograms of plastic items each year. But only 500 million kilograms can be recycled. It is not good for sustainable development.

Ooho is a great invention that could greatly reduce the waste and usage of plastic.

Ooho is:

  • 100% made of Plants & Seaweed
  • Biodegradable in 4-6 weeks, just like a piece of fruit
  • Edible, can be flavoured and coloured
  • Fresh (shelf life of a few days)
  • 5x less CO₂, 9x less Energy vs PET
  • Cheaper than plastic

You can simply pull apart the membrane and then eat the water. If you feel like it is hard to eat the membrane, you can drink the water after biting a small part.

All the ingredients are environmental friendly and the cost is even lower than the plastic. It is easy to use and can significantly reduce the environmental pollution.

How does this research relate to our Use Cases?

It is a new product to us. Massive usage and waste of plastic bottles can be reduced.

What is a provocation or insight that might inspire others during this challenge?

The most effective way to protect our environment is the technology. Innovation and research study are crucial for protecting our environment.
