Consider an apple as a packaging, the peel contains and protect the apple, it is to be washed and eaten, in the end no packaging is left behind. What if packaging works like an apple? This idea propose a new user habit of packaging with edible material: the packaging is to be washed and eaten: so that our stomach degrade the packaging!

How does this Idea redesign unrecyclable small format plastic items that often end up as waste?

Veggie pack create a new user habit of using edible material, such as vegetables for packaging, a package to be washed and eaten.The veggie pack use lettuce and cabbage for bakery or sandwich packaging. It replace the use of packaging of sandwiches or plastic bags for breads, particularly in Asian bakery. Different types of vegetables can be used for wrapping and packing bakery or sandwich in various context. Lettuce for on the go sandwich and cabbage for slightly durable bread wrap.

Bakery or sandwich shop, the idea is also expandable to other products when using other edible and washable material, such as agar or any fruit with cavity.

Bakery or sandwich shop, the idea is also expandable to other products when using other edible and washable material, such as agar or any fruit with cavity. This could replace the packaging in many Asian bakeries as well as wrap of on-the-go sandwich

The idea is expandable to exploring different edible and washable material to provide packaging to various product.

Although lettuce and cabbage could be the most handy edible packaging that restaurants and store can pick up with this service without much investment. The project foresee itself to develop into different edible packaging that may include more composite material, such as agar and bio-plastic or mushroom, to create edible yet more wearable material so that the idea can be applied to more products. As a group of students we treasure every opportunity to learn from this challenge.

It is a result of group brainstorm from SD Open Idea, a student initiative in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

This is liked my own version and it is great to be friendly with the environment and no air pollution, but you need to explain clearly like the economical factor of the material that will be used.
