Use concentrated cleaning products

Not a new idea but a good practice. Dilute cleaning products into reusable dispensers. For example non-toxic LDC and Super 10 from Neolife.

There are other companies that sell concentrated products.  For instance, splosh.com make natural food based cleaning products. They deliver the concentrated liquids in sachets reducing still more the need for plastic bottles. However, the product information states the ingredients may cause skin irritation and alleges and eye irritation.  Neolife products are not harmful to skin and eyes and are safe for children.

How does this Idea redesign unrecyclable small format plastic items that often end up as waste?

With the ten fold saving on the need for plastic bottles this could greatly reduce the amount of plastic bottles put into landfill. But only if we change the way we shop. Most households in the UK buy normal unconcenctrated washing up liquid and liquid cleaners from supermarkets. It would take people instead buying from retailers that sell the concentrated cleaning products.

Which use cases does your Idea apply to?

The two cleaning products mentioned can be bought and delivered to homes throughout the world in 60 different countries.

How do you envision scaling up your Idea?

As concentrated cleaners are not widely available in shops, consumers would need to change to direct online purchasing rather than traditional supermarket shopping for their cleaners. Yet this is quite possible given the amount of online shopping that happens with other goods. An idea might be to set up distribution sites where customers can pick up the goods rather than have them delivered. This would reduce delivery costs and encourage community interaction discussion.

At what stage of development is your Idea?

  • Full-scale roll-out: You have developed a pilot, tested, and analyzed the impact of that pilot as it pertains to the problem scope. You are ready to expand the pilot significantly and begin to scale.

Please describe how becoming a Top Idea and working with the Think Beyond Plastics Accelerator Program will help to accelerate your solution.

To make people aware of the benefits to the environment of changing their choice of cleaning product. To ensure people know how easy it is to dilute and use the products.

Please describe from where your Idea emerged

The company Neolife has been in business for over 50 years. For details see www.gnld.com
