The ultimate zero plastic waste ressource

The idea is to design a universal LABEL and construct DATABASES to inventory worldwide initiatives, companies, products

1st move will be to design a LABEL:

Design a LABEL to overcome the complexity of todays labels: it's almost impossible to know at first sight if a packaging is recyclable (or biodegradable / Edible).

This Label will be simple, strong, visual, accepted by all worldwide initiatives and will identify products, companies, organisms involved in plastic free ocean move (provide or use recyclable / edible packaging only)

Then we will inventory worldwide organisms engaged towards "bringing products to consumers without generating plastic waste" (plastic free ocean - thus becoming labeled) and implement DATABASES that can be completed by everyone:

Worldwide initiatives like Surfrider foundation and its Ocean Friendly Restaurants and so many others

Worldwide manufacturers of recyclable / biodegradable / Edible packagings - including all mentioned on this challenge research and idea phases

Worldwide products with no plastic waste in packaging

Worldwide restaurants, hotels, transport companies, market, supermarkets… engaged towards  zero plastic waste

In order to access those databases,  increase visibility of those products / services and give clear access to those initiatives, products, companies, etc, we will built an APP:

An APP that will have features like

  • TripAdvisor for hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, etc
  • Yuka to scan products and find eventually alternatives

And will offer plugins to those app

This idea does not literally redesign but it aims at increasing the visibility for a plastic waste free world and easing the transition for the consumer.

How do you envision scaling up your Idea?

1st move will be to identify worldwide initiatives (like the Surfrider foundation) and involve them. From there we will design a common LABEL and start to inventory and implement DATABASES. Obstacles: not being able to reach an agreement with the worldwide initiatives
