Disclaimer: this idea emerged in a OpenIDEO Vienna Chapter ideation session in a group setting.
The goal is to raise awareness for sustainable materials by communicating the material mix and the way of transport of the product (packaging).
Instead of tiny typography, outdated signs and logos, modern emoji and icon language is used to inform the buyer on the positive or negative effects of the particular product. The information on the product communicates the ecological footprint you accept when you buy the product.
Emoticons and icons should improve the chances for people informing themselves about ecological effects at the point of sale.
Open / not yet discussed:
The producer (probably) won't add this information on the product. How can third parties provide consumers with this level of information?
How can modern technology provide this information (think AR!)?
Are e.g. emojis truly universal?
