There is too much food and drink packaging waste in the world. We had the idea to buy in bulk to eliminate individual packaging. In your apartment building, they buy enough for everyone, less packaging, less price, and the food and drink is delivered automatically to the individual fridges of the people living in the apartment. 

How does this Idea redesign unrecyclable small format plastic items that often end up as waste?

It eliminates plastic packaging, as liquids and select other groceries are transported from a large bulk container in your apartment buildings basement, to your own containers in the fridge.

Which use cases does your Idea apply to?

The packageless fridge aplys to the idea of "An Infastructure To Reduce Waste"

How do you envision scaling up your Idea?

With the introduction of Amazon Fresh, the real-time on demand infrastructure is begging to come online in Germany. With this new service offering the packageless fridge is technologically feasible.

We need mentorship, and expertise, about how to go from idea and early concept into first testing and implementation. We have lots of energy and ideas, but not the necessary experience to bring this concept to market.

The idea came from a team brainstorm at the IDEO circular economy hackathon in Berlin.

We are totally thinking on this tract as well. Even to the future of what a community based around all consumeables (milk, water, soda, tea, coffee, even medication) might fit into this approach,

Personally I'd love to even see grains (oats/rice, pasta) in a similar fashion, also integrated with simple automation like 3d printers, e.g. breakfast of the future, boil 200ml of water, add oatmeal, cover, simmer for 20minutes, add dash of salt, butter. That's mostly just a servo or peristaltic pump dispensing over a controlled area. When oats get to 20% automatically reorder refill rebill.

Hi Scott!

Super creative and tapping into an existing growing market. It would eliminate the need for customers to be in their apartment when the deliveries occur. Would you highlight the use cases that this applies to - ? 

It would be interesting to know the user journey for the individual customer in the apartment e.g. how far in advance they need to order; how the amounts are assigned etc?

I am tagging Jocelyne here who posted Refillable Reusable dispenser (RRD) idea. I think the two ideas might learn from each other. Also, Jocelyn has experience in the detergent industry and it might be worth you considering non-food uses as well e.g. shampoo sachets was mentioned in the use cases.
