A platform to encourage world benefit initiatives by for-profit companies

Organizations identify "world benefit" challenges, implement (and document) challenge projects, and participate in a competition to identify companies having the biggest impact. Think Oscars meets Ted meets Dancing with the Stars.

A platform to encourage companies to create "world benefit" initiatives.
1) The Fowler Center helps organizations identify high-leverage opportunities that for-profit organizations could take in order to have positive impact in the world.
2) Participating organizations document their initiatives as they unfold.
3) Participating organizations bring their positive impact stories to an annual local/regional summit (think TedX), where journalists, celebrities, experts, and "the crowd" evaluate them. They nominate the top organizations for advancement to the next stage of the competition - first national, then global.
4) Winners get additional resources to help spread or scale their world benefit initiative more broadly across their organization, their community, or their industry sector.

How does your concept celebrate, identify or inspire for-profit businesses that act as agents of world benefit?

The concept gets for-profit businesses to identify initiatives that can have the biggest impact for their organization or sector. A series of local/regional, and national/international events bring together these companies to share their stories and celebrate their successes. Hearing these stories inspires others to sign up!

How will your concept help us create or leverage stories of world benefit that are sticky and shareable?

The competitive element gets companies to tell good (and memorable) stories. Story capture is built into the program - teams are expected to document their progress along the journey. Celebs and experts + crowd evaluation draws a broader audience than might otherwise be attracted.

What will it take to scale your concept so that its reach is global and widespread?

It will require some celebs and/or experts to join a judging panel. It will require local or regional events across geographic regions.

I really like this idea! When I first read the breif I was thinking on the same sort of page. Organisations that have the 'world benefit' at the heart of their on of their projects need to be recognised and applauded. Identifying these organisations and awarding them will not only help 'the world' in part but also enhance the organisations brand/coporate reputation. Win Win!
