Launched in 2000,the Tech Awards provides awards in six categories that include education, young innovator, environment, health, sustainable energy and economic development. The awards aim to “accelerate scientific breakthrough and technological applications to improve the human condition” and nominees must have demonstrated measurable impact in addressing a serious problem that had global implications. The awards combine both cash prizes, and, more importantly, positive publicity and visibility to the award winners in each category. Also offered are networking and mentoring opportunities to help winners expand their efforts.

You raise a great point here about the use of categories for recognition and awards, Shivani. We'll be excited for folks to consider this as we approach the upcoming Concepting phase.
