In this TED talk Derek Sivers describes in three minutes how to create a social movement. Everyone knows a movement needs a leader, but the role of the first follower rarely appreciated enough. "It is the first follower that turns the lone nut into a leader". Furthermore, the subsequent followers tend to follow the first follower, not the leader.
