Describe what you intend to do and how you'll do it in one sentence (required 250 Characters)

Will advertise by word of mouth , community leader , signs , video of parents reading , ,etc that parents will get a picture book for their child in addition to immunization .abd compare outcomes with group that does not get book .

Explain the idea (less than 2,000 characters)

Parents frequently travel long distances , wait in lines , hear their their child cry to get immunization . Parents are told that this will prevent illness but don’t usually understand that immunization will only prevent small number of selected . So when their child gets sick , they question the helpfulness of immunization and consistent with data , immunization rates fall of after 9 months . I postulate that giving parents a picture book at immunization visit will motivate most parents to return . In my extensive experience globally even illiterate mothers delight in sharing picture books with their young children. Without instruction they point and name the colorful objects ,animals ,etc in the book. This enjoyment can also be accompanied by message that by sharing books . all mothers can help their child start to learn even if they themselves had limited education This is a testable hypothesis and should also include early literacy and language outcomes as well as mother child interaction in addition to immunization adherence. This approach does not preclude other simple suggested efforts to promote immunizations . A study can sort out important contributors to outcome . Basically this approach is a testable effort to promote health and early childhood development and mother child interaction. See above article on Pediatrics that describe related efforts globally

Hi barry Zuckerman and team,

While the Virtual Reality seems fancy innovation to decrease children fears from needles, it does not solve alone the problem. Animations should be always combined with "reading" for a higher impact and a longer memory re vaccines work mechanism of action, safety etc. This makes your idea very worthy.
Whether won in here or not, we look forward to collaborating with you since we too at Cimaza Virology Comics combine art and science to improve the families' literacy about vaccines. Our initiative has won so far 3 International Awards, last Silver Europe Champion on Vaccines Communication 2018. AND IT IS THE MOST POPULAR at the WHO Vaccines Safety Net. Let's work together!

Hi barry Zuckerman great to have you in the Challenge and what an interesting idea! Can you share a little more about how you came up with this idea and how you've prototyped it so far?

Looking forward to learning more!
