Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)

Youth make up 60 percent of the world's population. If any real change is going to happen in this world today, it rest in the hands of the youth. Although youth make up such a large percentage, they lack the resources and outlets necessary to get their ideas off the ground. Most major economies has a youth unemployment problem and youth also seem disinterested in entrepreneurship. Taking all of this into consideration, the project idea we are proposing is a "Educational Entertainment Media Platform" called "Open Thought" that will be managed and operated by youth to unite all youth across the youth.

Imagine having a Television Network ran by youth for youth? Imagine how this can inspire the current generation? It can tackle entrepreneurship problems, have multi-country youth discussions on current issues, host multiple conferences across the world on ideas that can make it a better place, investigate issues effecting youth in countries and share it with other countries who have similar issues. One of the perks of going to a good University is usually the cultural diversity and exposure, we can create that same atmosphere here at Open Thought. One of the biggest misconceptions about human civilizations in western society is that we are different but in actuality we are all the same and if we can find that common ground through open discussions and investigation, we are one step closer to world peace, prosperity and a safer planet.

Imagine CNN, Fox News or BBC but ran by youth who specializes in youth affairs and creating opportunities for youth? Any initiative that the UN or any world organization is trying to carry out can be advertise through that channel and with 60 percent of the world's population being youth - the odds of it succeeding is very high. Imagine having constant discussions about racism, imagine the possibilities of it being totally eradicated by the next generation as this current one becomes more informed. Open Thought is the change we need

Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)

Our beneficiaries are youth between ages 16-30 and their families. Youth do not have a world media platform, we can create that here. This is can life changing as this will create jobs as youth are able to build media platforms to tell their stories and share it with other youths around the world. Streaming and advertising online will allow youth to gain funds for their programs which will expand their initiatives within their community. How inspiring it will be for youth to have an app on their phone and as soon as they open it, they see youth like themselves championing world change? This outlet can mental stimulate the next great leader of our generation as he will have the resources and support group needed to implement world policies. The benefits are too much to list. The youth needs an solid outlet and Open Thought gives them that.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)

Open Thought is different in that it gives youth a media platform to voice and share their ideas, opinions and grievances with other youth from across the world. Monetizing each show will give youth a chance to use those funds for their initiatives thus providing real financial opportunities. It will have a Netflix like database.

Advantages:
1. It can cut down on youth employment by creating jobs within the media industry and also inspiring youth to create opportunities for themselves from the content they are watching.
2. Youth commit crimes is often a cry for attention they are not getting - this outlet gives them all the attention they so rightfully deserve potentially lowering youth crime.
3. The content can be monetize and youth can use that money to pursue their ambitions.

We give the youth hope and a voice- that alone makes this approach successful. It's not about competition - it's about bringing lasting change and building this youth outlet gives us a chance at that.

Idea Proposal Stage (choose one)

  • Early Adoption: I have completed a pilot and analyzed the impact of that pilot on the intended users of the idea. I have begun to expand the pilot for early adoption.
  • Majority Adoption: I have expanded the pilot significantly and the program product or service has been adopted by the majority of our intended user base.
  • Full Scale Roll Out: I have already tested and scaled this idea significantly with the intended user base.

Tell us more about your organization/company (1 sentence and website URL)

We give youth a voice and chance to tell their stories.

Expertise in sector

  • 3-5 years

Organization Filing Status

  • Yes, we are a registered non-profit.
  • Yes, we are a registered company.

In 3-4 sentences, tell us the inspiration or story that encouraged you to start this project.

I live in a country where there is a selective group of youth people who get all the opportunities and chances. I wanted to create an outlet that gave everyone a chance at getting opportunities. We cannot achieve change acquiring on the ideas of only the privileged individuals, we must achieve change by giving everyone a voice.

Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).

For an idea bridging Peace, Prosperity and Planet, you might explain that: Peace is influenced by poltical tensions in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Prosperity has been impacted by colonialism and poor governance, Planet has been impacted by climate change and hurricanes, which has specifically hurt the fishing inudstry.

Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)

Open Thought usually runs a web show so that will need cameramen, video editor, and producer to make it work. Basically is needed is a production team and a businessman to create opportunities for the show to be monetized.

We have been involved with the youths in our community in putting together 2 web shows in the past. Both create opportunities for all participants and inspired youths of the communities. Every week that I go into public people often ask me about the show or express their ideas and concerns with me. The show has been life changing for me and i hope other youth will be able to say the same in other countries.

Please share some of the top strengths identified in the community which your project will serve (500 characters)

1. My country is close to the USA so getting equipment here to build a solid production studio is easy.
2. Finding youth to be a part of it will be easy as well as we have a fan base already
3. We have a great reputation locally
4. We already have an already established outlet

Geographic Focus

All regions just like the name(Open Thought) implies - it's open to everyone.

How many months are required for the project idea? (500 characters)

We will have to see what countries will be able to maintain it and once that's sorted out, we can have it running in no time. We will have to see what type of content can be generated once we have a list of countries on board. This is a lifetime investment that will carry over to future generations.

Dear @leonardo Lightbourne, thanks for sharing your out of mind idea. This is something no one has ever thought and have the capacity to change the whole course in the world. I am curious to learn how are planning to market this idea to the world. How are planning to make sure people watch your TV and your shows so that they can perceive your message? Yes, this is radically a new way but how are planning to bring intersection of peace, prosperity and platnet. What are the challenges you have faced so far while running this program. Really liked your idea.Would love to learn how are you going to break the world's stereotype as we are different to same. Looking forward to learn more.

Hi bikash gurung thanks for your comment and showing interest in Open Thought. I will answer your questions below:

How are planning to market this idea to the world?

As mentioned earlier youth make up 60 percent of the world's population and a larger percentage of social media users. Therefore social media will be the easiest and most effective way to get the idea out there. We can also look into televised conferences and national discussion that will not only market the platform but build a relationship with tits users. Statistically millennials are at risk when it comes to economic prosperity and so the demand is needed for a platform that serves as a beacon of hope for youth in the new world who fit those statistics. They can be inspired to continue on their journeys, they can find ideas, tips and strategies other youths are using in other countries and apply it their countries. Open Thought bridges the cultural gap in thinking that our problems are so unique when in truth they are huge similarities - when youth see these cultural similarities we are on the brink of a more united world. The problem is, there's is no world class media platform for youth like BBC News, and CNN, we can create one and spark a whole new movement. Based on the pressing issues youths are facing today - I believe the product won't have a marketing problem.

How are planning to make sure people watch your TV and your shows so that they can perceive your message?

In the past we've used Facebook which has work effectively and more media platforms are shifting to Facebook live and so I foresee no problem with getting views. For countries who will not have access to Facebook we will build an app and website also so that they do not miss the opportunity to be a part of the discussions.

How are planning to bring intersection of peace, prosperity and planet?

Youth make up such a huge part of the global population yet youth are the ones that usually lack the resources and tools needed to launch their ideas and we sit and wonder why the issue continue globally. I am not saying youth have all the answers but they must have some and we must give them that confidence and resources needed to get those ideas to the forefront and so creating Open Thought is more of a stepping stone towards finding answers to bring intersection of peace, prosperity and planet. If each country in the world had a youth headquarters capable of communicating with other youth headquarters across the world we are on the brink of world peace and global prosperity.

What are the challenges you have faced so far while running this program.?

Lack of funding and building a production company and which requires money also. Despite the lack of funds we were still able to pilot the idea for 4 years and it has continue to work in my country in inspiring youth cohesiveness and spreading awareness about topics affecting young people. We are still working on monetizing our efforts and if experts can help us with this and also ways of obtaining more funding, we can really push this outlet to its real potentially globally.

How are you going to break the world's stereotype as we are different to same.?

Knowledge is power and the more we talk about the things that makes us uneasy and afraid the closer we get to showing compassion to those around us. The world must be "Open to Thought" hence "Open Thought", this generation can show that at the root of everything is one underlying fact, we are all humans, we are all capable of love and if we can somehow rediscover our humanity through communication, we are one step closer to a better world.

I hope this helps bikash gurung and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. I will try my best to provide a comprehensive answer.
