Triventure-the bicycle trailer
Revolutionizing a safer and more efficient bicycle trailer concept primarily for African farmers.
Putting my new concept to the test. It worked! This concept basically allows the trailer itself to stay level and in control however uneven the terrain is.

Latest prototype featuring my new concept which is completely different from the bicycle trailers on the market
Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)
Triventure is a bicycle trailer that aims to ease the transportation of goods. The trailer is designed primarily for bicycles but it can be also attached to motorcycles and carry about 200 kg. Triventure is environmentally friendly, cost efficient, and helps bridge the gap between our planet and the prosperity of its residents. It does not only encourages people to keep fit while getting their jobs done but also help to contribute less to the pollution level. Since there are 30 out of 54 countries (Agriculture in Africa. (2013). [ebook] United Nations, p.A singe page(pg15). Available at: http://www.un.org/en/africa/osaa/pdf/pubs/2013africanagricultures.pdf [Accessed 3 Jun. 2018].)in Africa that depend heavily on the agricultural sector as their main source of revenue, it is vital that we help our farmers to be specialised in their domain. As a result, they can be competent in being subcontractors of big and multinational companies and better cater for their families. I am still exploring the different uses of the bicycle trailer and it is motivating for me to know how versatile Triventure really is.
Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)
“You name the job and i’ll adapt the trailer to your need.” This was my motivational saying to explore different uses of Triventure. I created several prototypes for which the trailer have different uses such as trade in farming and fishing and leisure to name a few. I see Triventure offering convenience to planters as they can easily take their bicycle trailers around to every corners of their farm to collect fresh goods. Fisherman, on the other hand, with a stock of ice in their bicycle trailer are transporting their crisp seafood around for sale. My other design of the trailer will allow pet owners to have their pets with them everywhere they go while others would prefer to use the bicycle trailer on an adventure to go kayaking and camping. In short, everyone can benefit from the use of Triventure.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)
South Africa is concerned about the safety of travelers on the road. However, my trailer can ensure its effectiveness if the load limit is respected with a strong enclose. According to my research, I find the need for tougher, more agile and fail-safe trailers which is missing in the market. Agile trailers ensures that the rider has full control on the trailer and a tough trailer ensures the security of goods being transported. Besides offering customized trailers in terms of designs and colors, Triventure will also include name plate of owners on the enclose of the trailer and give farmers the advantage of attracting customers with its displayed goods through a transparent confine. In the long run, Triventure will be empowering people to reduce road congestion and air pollution. The impact of my project will decrease our dependence on non-renewable sources of energy such as diesel and petrol. Electric engine assisted ride will be a plus in my designs as this eases the job of pedaling.
Idea Proposal Stage (choose one)
Prototype: I have done some small tests or experiments with prospective users to continue developing the idea.
Tell us more about your organization/company (1 sentence and website URL)
Our vision at Triventure is to ultimately see people depend less on non-renewable sources of energy. We believe tremendously in what young people can do, hence at Triventure, youngsters will be able to participate in the research and development of our line of products. We plan to register us as company soon. Our company will design, develop, test new concepts concerning safety for our trailers and manufacture both stock and customized trailers.
Organization Filing Status
No, but we plan to register in the future.
In 3-4 sentences, tell us the inspiration or story that encouraged you to start this project.
About 4 years back, my grandmother had to carry heavy bags of children clothes to the market in the nearby village. The pain I had in seeing her working in her old age to sell children clothes to contribute in our household expenses made me come up with Triventure. I designed and made a bicycle trailer out of as scrap wood, nails and a pair of plastic wheels. Eventually, I had a working prototype which served not only my grandmother but also my father who could easily carry gas cylinders home.
Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).
The increasing number of vehicles on our street contribute further to global warming. My vision is to see Mauritians depend less on non-renewable sources of energy with the help of the bicycle trailer. Prosperity has been influenced by inflation. Recently the price of diesel and petrol skyrocketed in my home country. The price of fuel can become prohibitively expensive at any given time. Therefore, Triventure is an alternative to keep people commuting during high fluctuations of fuel prices. It is a fact(Cities, C. (2018). 3 Reasons Why People Don’t Ride Bikes | CEOs for Cities. [online] http://Ceosforcities.org. Available at: https://ceosforcities.org/3-reasons-why-people-dont-ride-bikes/ [Accessed 3 Jun. 2018].) that most people will be reluctant to ride a bicycle. It is up to my further developments to make the bicycle trailer fun to use. For example, the addition of an electric motor to assist the rider will make the trailer more user-friendly.
Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)
In Mauritius, if one is passionate about anything that has to do with vehicles, he or she is labelled as ‘mechanics’ and are often underestimated in the society. However, as an open minded leader, I want to deconstruct this stereotypical belief. My plan is to open a learning center for those interested in mechanics field. Ambitious and energetic youngsters who are craving for hands-on experience in the workshop, will have a chance to contribute to the research and development of Triventure. In addition, I will promote the use of technology by guiding them how to create and explain 3D model to my clients. I believe that it will be an interesting way to gain the trust and showcase our various designs to customers.
Please share some of the top strengths identified in the community which your project will serve (500 characters)
Having more than 50 retailers in my community is a leading advantage since it simplifies the reaching out to customers through this channel of distribution. Mauritius depends heavily on the marine sector and my trailer will aid fishermen in their daily stroll in villages to sell their products while tourists can enjoy Triventure for kayaking and camping. Also, public sensitization by Mauritian youth on the care of pets, particularly dogs will increase the sale of my trailers.
Currently- targeting the coastal community of Mauritius; greatest aim- export to African countries.
How many months are required for the project idea? (500 characters)
My current prototype was developed in less than 3 month. But, in 4 more months, I am hoping for some seed funding to start the manufacturing of my trailer. In total, it will be 8 months to sell a complete set of my bicycle trailer. While innovation and creativity, which is a crucial aspect of Triventure will be a continuous process through the operational months.
