Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)

The project Soul in the Soil is an attempt to bring back connectedness between people and their native soil which is disrupted by present circumstances. This is an elaborate idealisation of a system where peace, prosperity and planet protection will prevail. For centuries people share a symbiotic relationship with nature and its surroundings.Of late this series of relationships with nature are broken with unbridled human intervention in environment and nature which results in crippling of ecological balance with nature. The changes can be manifested in the forms of environmental degradation, extinction of indigenous cultural life, social unrest and loss of self-sufficiency leading to poor economic condition of communities.
However indigenous system inherent in traditional system of communities advocates highest regard for mother earth a pro environmental approach, nurturing of a traditional culture emanating from the soil and a system of self sufficiency with pro environmental agricultural system and craft industry.
The proposed project envisage an array of activity comprising traditional organic cultivation, revitalisation of cultural practices associated with particular cultivation, training program on traditional craft and textile tradition. The basic aim of the project is to bring economic prosperity to marginalised communities by maintaining environmental equilibrium.
Right now communities are facing different types of problems including social unrest, economic backwardness and loss of identity in third world countries. The proposed project will be run pilot in six different areas at grassroot level ,and later they will be scaled up in other areas as well.

Hi Dibya Borah I like your project idea and I am also implementing an agroforestry project in my home state Meghalaya in north east India. But right now I am working on developing a blockchain to power the first Ecosystem Services market place that rewards indigenous communities to restore the Eastern Ghats in Andhra Pradesh South India. Together with out local partners in India we are building bridges between community driven mountain ecosystem restoration using blockchain technology for sustainable development financing. https://challenges.openideo.com/challenge/bridgebuilder2/ideas/developing-a-blockchain-to-power-the-first-ecosystem-market-place-that-rewards-communities-to-restore-and-protect-the-eastern-ghats-in-india

Perhaps we can collaborate at a later stage as you progress on your project idea. I wish you and your team in Assam all the very best. Let us plan to meet up on my next trip to north east India on my way back from the delta region of south west Myanmar in August 2018.
