This is to monitor quality of water percolating into the water table underground by creating awareness for farmers ,introducing better farming practices and constant aerial and satellite monitoring using GIS and remote sensing. The idea is about maintaining quality of underground water table as this serves as a major source of water both for consumption and other uses. This in turn reduces cost of disinfecting polluted water which can be capital intensive for both human and industries. The project is in stages; firstly, water samples are collected in a given geographic area, satellite image and data are collected, soil samples collected, farming practices and chemicals used on the farmlands are recorded. The second phase is analysis of chemicals used on the farm and its side effect on plant, type of soils in various areas analyzed, alternate biodegradable chemicals introduced for better farming practices, liason with the farmers' cooperatives in the area, detect and record polluted areas. The detected contaminated water table areas are constantly monitored and measures put in place to safely disinfect them.
