Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)
Every single individual has unique gifts to share, unique passions to follow, and unique weaknesses to strengthen. Yet, let’s not forget that each of us has his/her own life with very unique constraints. The PraxEco project aims to build a platform for any individual to contribute, at ease, to the collective transition to prosperity. The platform allows any person from any background to join and be part of the team. Whether they are professionals, students, uneducated, disabled… We are all differently abled and we all deserve the chance for our ideas to be heard, our passion to be empowered, and our projects to be well-mentored. Through a minimum contributing of three hours a week, anyone may pursue their normal lives: have a full-time job, practice their frequent hobbies, tend to their families… Our main principle with the PraxEco project is to derive (and deliver) value out of perseverance.
How it works?
Individuals interested in joining the network would fill out a simple form declaring their interests, passion, strengths, and weaknesses. Once reviewed, they are followed up with a close to two-hour “table talk” with their matched mentor(s). This meeting will serve two main purposes: First, it covers an orientation to the PraxEco network (mission, values, projects…) to ensure transparency and awareness. Second, it will be the meeting in which the new member and their mentors co-design a “job” or “role” that the new member is highly comfortable leading. The role will be designed based on realistic considerations of the member’s qualifications. If the new member’s project aligns with PraxEco’s philosophy, it will be fused within PraxEco’s strategy (of existing projects) to facilitate the transition to abundance. If the new member is persistent in their contributions, they will receive support, financial and intellectual, to bring their projects to life.
Two business ideas branching out of PraxEco are also on BridgeBuilder! See inspired project below.
Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)
Our main beneficiaries are individuals that are “professionally unfortunate” yet have brilliant potential. This includes immigrants who’s foreign experience and education are un-credited. It also includes over-educated and/or under-employed students that are passionate to lead a positive change in their own ways. Beneficiaries are also individuals that have “failed” in work or education due to external reasons like disabilities, trauma, over-medication… PraxEco empowers their confidence and creativity through the collective support of a team of diverse expertise. Their personal projects are promoted and aligned towards the mutually beneficial goal: A future of Regenerative Abundance for all. As an example, one of our members is an artist interested in venturing into indoor growing yet does not have relevant education. He contributes through tasks he is confident in performing, and he is benefiting from engineers and permaculture designers within PraxEco.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)
What makes PraxEco unique is the collectively agreed method of working together. We volunteer to each other's projects and use the profits resulting to empower our projects further. It is a model highly inspired by Permaculture that emphasises on its three main ethics: Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share. It focuses on inspiring people, independent of their background, to participate persistently in projects that empower the Earth, and, in return, empower their own projects financially and in person.
The biggest advantage we have is the diversity of current members on our team. Our members range from engineers and scientist with 10+ years of professional experience to mentally challenged individuals some of whom have not gotten the chance to complete school. In fact, this diversity is what led our model to be as adaptable as it is, and it is crucial that such an initiative remains as diverse and adaptable as possible.

Tell us more about your organization/company (1 sentence and website URL)
PraxEco is an open source research network with the mission of facilitating the transition to a self-sustainable future of regenerative abundance for all through developing techniques starting from the self and scaling up slowly; industry by industry.
PraxEco, represented by Hadi Shamieh, was featured in an interview on CKUT radio in Montreal, Canada. The interview gives an insight about PraxEco, its philosophy, ethics, the events being organized & some of PraxEco's projects that facilitate the transition to an abundant self-sufficient future.
PraxEco is a community of 100% volunteers. Discover more about PraxEco Network at: www.praxeco.com
PraxEco has been operating on volunteer self-employed basis. Nonetheless, we do plan to register an organization in the near future as the concept becomes more concrete.
Organization Filing Status
Yes, we are a registered company.
In 3-4 sentences, tell us the inspiration or story that encouraged you to start this project.
Over a year after my graduation with high academic success, I remained jobless due to my immigration status and overeducation. Nonetheless, I’ve met a lot of people (experienced and not, educated and not) who all had uniquely amazing visions for the future that were not so similar yet perfectly matching my own. This inspired the thought: Can we connect our diversity of passions & expertise, and collaborate slowly yet persistently toward the achieving prosperity for all.
Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).
Peace is influenced by the separating borders created based on social constraints. Every person, independent of their life constraints, should have the opportunity to work on their personal projects and follow their personal dreams. Prosperity is influenced by the over-demanding nature of conventional jobs that are aimed solely at increasing GDP. While the dominant existing system (Capitalism) increases the separation between “successful” and “unsuccessful” individuals, PraxEco bridges professional scientists, engineers, and specialized people with “less professional” individuals to inspire creative cooperation and collective empowerment. PraxEco’s philosophy (mission & values) bridges Peace with Planet by insuring that sponsored projects are eco-conscious, transparent (open source), adaptable and accessible.
Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)
Our main partner is Sensorica, an open source hardware engineering network. Sensorica is a pioneer in prototyping as well as collaborative entrepreneurship, and plays a huge role facilitating projects of PraxEco members. Funds that are allocated from PraxEco to its members’ projects may create job opportunities in the Sensorica network. In addition, some Sensorica Affiliates may agree to work in advance, free of charge, to bring projects to life, and accept a fair share of the profit once benefit results from the project. Consider the same example as before, the artist interested in indoor growing. He organizes music events that raise some profit for the network. A part of that profit (his fair share) is allocated to pay engineers at Sensorica to design and prototype sensors and systems needed for the indoor garden. Furthermore, http://Procrastination.com is another partner who offers PraxEco members free access workshops for positive motivation.
Please share some of the top strengths identified in the community which your project will serve (500 characters)
A big strength of PraxEco as a community is that it is full of individuals highly passionate to lead a change. This is a strength when the members are flooded with resources and collective support, confidence and appreciation. Another strength we have is our diversity. We have nearly 50 people signed up in Montreal, all of which come from a different background and have different expertise - whether it is culture, religion, language, profession, education, experience…
PraxEco mainly targets the community in Montreal and the surrounding regions.
How many months are required for the project idea? (500 characters)
The PraxEco project will definitely be implemented within a 36-month period. Our needs are realistic and achievable. We also need to fork a simplified version of Sensorica’s open source Network Resource Planning (NRP) platform, and program it into a simple app that facilitates collaboration and the network’s transparency in projects, resources, and members involvement. In addition, we need to create better media contents to better introduce PraxEco and reach more people.
