Nipping In The Bud An Emerging Catastrophic Situation In The South East Of Nigeria.
Creating a new life for the ethnic people of South-East Nigeria who were displaced from the Boko-Haram crisis in North- East of Nigeria.
Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)
Our envisaged project idea is the establishment of an integrated feed mill/farm enterprise.
WHAT IT WOULD HELP TO SOLVE:
The war going on in the North- East of Nigeria against the Boko-Haram terrorist group and its splinter groups have created not only Internally Displaced People (IDP), but has also made the non-indigenes from the South-East of Nigeria to return to their childhood villages- ancestral homes. It’s evident that the international community is doing the needful in helping the Internally Displaced People (IDP) in the Northern part of Nigeria as a result of on-going war there. However, nothing is being done by the international community, or the Nigerian government or the state governments of the Eastern states of Nigeria in settling, accommodating and rehabilitating the ancestral people of this area who were or have been displaced as result of the Boko-Haram war.
Now, having escaped the war up in the North of the country and returned to their ancestral homes with wives and children, hundreds of thousands of them are economically worse than refugees without any one according them that status or even an official recognition of their condition by the local or Federal governments or the international community.
- So, with this project, we are working on eliminating economic factors that could drive the disaffected men and women to joining radical groups.
- As result of these displaced refugees who are having no jobs; the dynamic is a thicking time bomb.
- From the perspective of social entrepreneurship, this is a business solution to halt the spread of insecurity and “unplanting” of peace.
- As oxygen is to fire, so are unemployed youths to insecurity.
- Agriculture/Feed mill which provides youth employment can deprive insurgencies of the Oxygen they need to thrive.
- If unattended, the neglected refugee situation in the South East of Nigeria could degenerate into extreme movements.
Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)
Our beneficiaries are families- men, women and children of the refugees displaced from the North- East of Nigeria who are now roaming the villages of the South- East without jobs, no schooling for their children, no basic food on the table, no hope and there seem to be no life. The heads of these families need work in order to provide even one square meal. They need money in order to send their children to school. The women need income in order to avoid becoming destitutes.
How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)
The difference in idea is that we are looking at temporary and long-term accommodation of the victims into an enterprise that will give them life and future. Of course, we cannot employ all. To think of taking all would mean seeking for tens of millions of dollars.
We are looking at taking off with an integrated feed mill that would provide immediate succor to the needs of some in terms of employment. And the long term aspect will be harnessed as soon as the farm dimension is established.
We are looking at producing feeds that could be exported – not just for the Nigerian market. Thus, we will demonstrate how we are protecting the environment and avoiding chemical usage.
We will not be putting profit before the need and health of the people.
In course of time, we will train and encourage them to venture into cooperatives.
We have over ten years of experience agro related businesses, though there will be separation between the old and the new ventures.

In 3-4 sentences, tell us the inspiration or story that encouraged you to start this project.
We recently observed that unprecedented number of tens were coming to us to look for job. They no longer go to school, no education, seeking to do whatever is available without skills. So we started walking back on their stories to find out what must have led to their narrations. We quickly discovered that more destitute were "littering" the streets, and in our efforts to contact the authorities, we realized that no institution or government arm is interested in looking into their affairs.
Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).
There is nothing that can "unplant" peace more than teeming youths who were displaced along with their parents and are no longer schooling but are roaming the villages in search of what to eat or who would dash them food or cash. These youths are ready "raw" materials for carrying out any crisis and can easily be recruited.
The prosperity of these families lies in prostate as they are victims of uncaring political leaders. In the event of crisis, environmental impact can be destabilizing by the way we prosecute war. The environmental impact of war or crises can be stopped.
The environment has long been a silent casualty of war and armed conflict. From the contamination of land and the destruction of forests to the plunder of natural resources and the collapse of management systems.
Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)
We plan to partner with the affected in their communities through their village heads, town meetings and local government areas. We had had the experience of recruiting people through the community leaders as guarantors. It had worked out for us when we sought to offer scholarships to indigenes of specified local governments.
Please share some of the top strengths identified in the community which your project will serve (500 characters)
The power of agriculture and feed mill can be unlocked as a job creation engine ; bearing in mind that due to high demand for labour and low skill requirements, these have the potential to create jobs and draw millions of young people into the sector.
We are talking of South-East of Nigeria, the epicenter being Imo state.
How many months are required for the project idea? (500 characters)
Our experience guide us to say that the feed mill can become fully operational within one year and the farm to be grown and integrated should be equally be implemented within eighteen months (18 months).
