Explain your project idea (2,000 characters)

This project is all about helping the vulnerable and rural communities to transition from activities that negatively affect the environment to greener enterprise activities such as Production of briquettes, organic fertilizers from waste, Recycling plastic into wood and cement alternatives etc.

Human activities continue to negatively affect the environment, common income generating activities in rural areas include Charcoal burning, Forest burning in order to use ash as fertilizer, Cutting trees for fencing, and so on.
These activities are detrimental to the environment because they lead to deforestation, while farming which guarantees food security is negatively affected by these activities leading to low yields, rainfall and droughts
indiscriminately disposed is another key problem causing disease, floods etc.

Through our innovation, impacts of climate change such as deforestation are highly reduced. Africa being highly dependent on farming for its food security requires solutions like this one that will be able to enable people continue earning an income but using greener enterprise alternatives rather than causing climate change for instance, once we enter into a charcoal burning community:
-Mobilize charcoal burners highlighting the dangers i.e. deforestation, drought.
-We train them in using biomass to produce briquettes
-Help them to create co-operatives or clubs
-Offer training to them and provide the equipment
-Production
-Servicing their machine loan
-Scaling

Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)

Our beneficiaries are Ugandan rural dwellers and their families who live on less than one dollar per day.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)

Not only are we preserving our environment but we are also training people to be more responsible in the way they manage their waste and environment. From the solid waste that we generate we are also creating livelihoods for the very poor and decent jobs. For example plastic waste that is a challenge across the world with the water bodies being the most affected we use this waste as a resource to produce value and create jobs for the poor rural communities.

Hi Joseph, I agree with Morgan. This is an incredible idea which may benefit from focusing on one or two single in-demand products which can be marketed to bring greater awareness and resources to your overall program.
