Establishing a food safety culture is essential in reducing the burden of disease in communities, promotion of trade and protecting the environment I.e the soils, waters with this will certainly reduce mobidity and mortality rates world wide considering it's a global concern.

Who are the beneficiaries? (1,000 characters)

Our beneficiaries include farmers, traders and all those in the various food value chains. The end consumers of food are vital the young, elderly, sickly who need special diets and whose immune systems are compromised. This certainly reduces the burden of food borne illnesses.
Also to consider is the environment that is contaminated with pesticides, herbicides in the production of plant food. Animals that are treated with various drugs with no control of minimum residual levels for the drugs.
The concept of food safety is from farm to fork therefore all consumers are concerned parties.

How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)

Very few countries concern this issue and yet it concerns plant health and animal health. Public health concerns are now a global concern, and though ignored, it's fundamental in relation to the MDGs.
Well, my organization has the capacity to address this issue and we've been doing so deligently.
The government is very concerned however they are slowly implementing food safety into the health, agriculture and trade sectors.
My organization can do capacity building for local government staff, farmers, communities and all food handlers.

We started as an export and import of produce company. However, along the way we realized we had to adopt the food standards, sanitary and photo sanitary measures, technical barriers to trade and all these were new concepts. So internationally we had to be guided by the codex alimentarius and yet we knew nothing about it.

Plant health, Animal health and human health are very fundamental issues globally.
They are serious public health concern and therefore need concerted effort from the government, communities and private sectors.

Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).

Prosperity is influenced by the environment, so for the planet to support plants and animals to prosperity it needs intervention s from organization s that are willing to support the cause by establishing a strong and vibrant foodsafety culture.

Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)

All food handlers, policy makers, local authorities and communities.
Mbarara municipal council started this with my organization taking the lead on addressing food safety.

Please share some of the top strengths identified in the community which your project will serve (500 characters)

Mbarara is the food basket and therefore 80% of the labor force includes the women and youth involved in food production.
