A lot of cities and towns in most developing countries are laden with dirty environment due to refuse dumps on the streets and making them breeding grounds for disease vectors such as mosquitoes and rodents causing several diseases like malaria, and susceptible to floods. People living in these places pay no attention in sanitizing their environment thereby causing most of the aforementioned problems. Some communities organize timely environmental sanitation campaigns by inviting members of the community to participate in the events, the events are usually social accompanied with drinks and dances making the entire process fun and effective.
Social media has however, proliferated into every nook and cranny of the modern world, with over 1 billion people active on the social media and with great percentage of the users from the developing world, there is a great chance that people can be encouraged to to take a good care of their environment by introducing innovative concepts to draw their attention to the matter through these mediums.
This is why we come up CleanCall, an organization encouraging real world communities to form environmental sanitation groups on the social media on which they can invite members of their communities to join and organize monthly environmental sanitation events to clean their environments and socialize during the process. At the end of the exercise the community will post pictures of the event including the before and after images of the places they cleaned, the community of the month will be chosen based on the cleanliness of the environment and the turnout of participants. Prizes such as shirts or caps may be awarded to the winning community so as to encourage other communities.
We are starting CleanCall with Facebook and twitter where any Facebook or twitter user can join and become a member of the group closer to their community, if one's community group is not available on the platform, one can easily start the group and become the group head promoter.
CleanCall will provide community groups with set of guidelines of conducting an event the CleanCall way so as to ensure the event's effectiveness and that it is conducted in a fun way.
