The program will adapt and develop a child-to-child approach in marginalized and violence areas of Middle Area of Gaza Strip. The program will promote civic behaviors and values in classrooms and communities. Approximately 2160 children aged 10-14 will partake in a community-based participatory effort characterized by child-to-child methods with low child-to-adult ratios, that promote values of acceptance, tolerance, dialogue and respect of law.
The program components will be planned, implemented and evaluated by the children with support from their youth mentors and the CBO management team and under the overall supervision of the project consultant. Six facilities in Middle Area will be provided for the children in addition a team of trained adults, and a dynamic network of parents and community leaders builds and reinforces the skills that are critical to conflict mitigation and management.
During the project activities, POD will open six centers in Middle Area, one of them in POD and five centers participated with local CBOs. Each center will host 120 children every rounds. The round duration is 7 months. During the round, each child will attend to 14 sessions per month; the subject of session will include life skills, increasing mental rigidity and promoting the values of peace, dialogue, tolerance, respect for law and non-violence, each sessions 2 hours. The project will implement during three rounds. The total beneficiaries 2160 children. After the end of round, POD will prepare three-month preparation for each stage as well as field and summer activities

• 2160 children ages 10-14 and their families who have been live in Middle Area in Gaza Strip, Palestine.
• 2160 Children caregivers.
• 18 mentors (9 female and 9 male).
• Local community.
• 6 CBOs in Middle Area.
Criteria for select project beneficiaries:
• Age group (10-14) years with take into account age level when distributed the activities.
• Parent’s agreement to participate in the project activities for the children under 18 years.
• Be a resident of the Middle Area Governorate.
How is your idea unique? (1,000 characters)
In this project children are owners the project idea and initiative, the main roles of institutions, schools and families support them. This is completely different of all children programs, which children consider as recipient. In this program, children are prepared to express and defend their rights and needs. Children will be mediators for peace, non-violence and junior leaders to dissemination to other children in the community (schools, neighborhood) through individual meeting, workshops for groups of children, open days and meeting with children from other institutions. The project idea is a new and has not used in Gaza Strip. The project is a unique because of it aims to develop children's self-capacity and raise their awareness by training them on a set of subjects that are developed by the children themselves, as well as involving the parents and the community in planning, implementation and evaluation.

Palestinian Organization for Development (POD) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization. It locates in Middle Area Governorate of Gaza Strip in Palestine since 2000. It holds registration NO. 7040 from Ministry of Interior. POD aims to promote the Palestinian society through supporting the life wellbeing. It started work guided by local and international freedom values; maintain human dignity and rights for all, without discrimination.

In 2017, POD got short-term fund from EU for the initiative of school with non-violence. The project with participated 10 schools and 4 Community Based Organizations CBOs in Middle Area. The project target group is schoolchildren. After the initiative finished the children make changes about 30% in lifestyle and towards families and schools. These changes make us to focus on children more and more to make them messengers for peace and non-violence for a long and concentrate program.

According to (UNRWA) Children in Gaza Strip suffering from hard difficulties and problems five times higher than their peers. The most prominent of these problems are psychological problems, adolescent behavior disorders, increased school violence and lack of facilities, safe spaces and recreational places. In addition to that, children suffered from low participation and interaction rate. According to (Palestinian Center for Statistics) the children have difficulties in adapting to the circumstances surrounding them. On March 2017, POD conducted need assessment for children participating with 50 parents, teachers, psychologists and representatives of CSOs. The participants in this meeting recommended to adopt programs that promoted the role of children in cooperation with schools and with the participation of children caregivers. Children contribute to strengthening the intellectual and cultural structure, increases their resilience, and contributes to building their personality.

The Middle Area in Gaza Strip has many strengths points; there are many strong CSOs in the technical, financial management, networking and cooperation between the various institutions including schools. Middle Area has influential local committees. POD has strong relationship with municipalities. Parents and children caregivers encourage children to participate in the activities. Children have a great desire to integrate and participate. Also, the community seeking to change to better.
