Nigeria with its overwhelming young population is sitting on a time boom. if practical project like this is not implemented to create prosperity, then peace and sustainble planet would be compromised. According to Brookings Institution, a research institute, “Nigeria has already overtaken India as the country with the largest number of extreme poor in early 2018. At the end of May 2018, our trajectories suggest that Nigeria had about 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared with India’s 73 million. What is more, extreme poverty in Nigeria is growing by six people every minute, while poverty in India continues to fall.” I believe the revolution to tackle this problem lies in the 774 local government.

Having been actively involved in building capacity of the beneficiaries for the past 3 years, my interaction with them culminate in unprecedented level of incompetence and unskillful at play that then to compromise every development policies and strategies. Since independence in 1960, every developmental effort has failed. The recent Brooking Institute report that put Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world makes it indispensable to implement this project.
How does the idea affect or change the fundamental nature of the larger ecosystem that surrounds it (as described above) in a new and/or far-reaching way? (500 characters)
Implementing the project will be the first time development efforts would be directed at the 774 Local Government Councils in Nigeria. It will change the way the whole system work. We would be able to track development efforts to know what work and what doesn't.
What will be different within the target community as a result of implementing the idea? What is the scope and scale of that difference? How long will it take to see that difference and how will it be sustained beyond BridgeBuilder support? (500 characters)
Implementing the idea will bring the community at the center of development. they would be engage before government will decide and develop policy and projects. Corruption would be reduced as the capacity to hold leaders accountable would be built as well as using ICT to track budgets and expenditure. The proposed initiative is self sustaining. it will become a national annual initiative for the Country.

Their worries was whether the Federal and State government of Nigeria would allow the implementation of this project.

The first activity is National Aggressive Awareness: This will culminate into notifying the prospective local government council according to the 6Geo-political regions by sending a situational report template to them in preparation of the first Geo-political project implementation. The 6 Geo-political Zones are: North Central, South-South, South-East, South-West, North –East, and North-West.
In every Geo-political Zone, the following activities would be carried out;
The Strategic Stakeholders Engagement workshop.
The Strategic Stakeholders Fieldwork. The engagement would be followed by Field work to carry out progress evaluation of the impact created by the implementation of the project.
The Benchmark Analysis Activities. The Benchmarking Analysis Activities would identify the gaps and facilitate the development the progress report.

implementing this initiative will be a collaboration between our team at Quaestrion & Planus and our technical partners. The technical Partners will include; Social Progress Initiative, Hageplex Technologies, Servicom Nigeria, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Pricewaterhousecoopers, Media Right Agenda, MSH, Office of the Vice President of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of Budget Planning, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation and SDGs Office.

Beyond the growing seething discontentment, corruption and mismanagement evidently commonplace in the 774 Local Government councils in Nigeria, there are endless compelling evidences that empirically demonstrate the need for holistic and pragmatic sustainable approaches to capacity development for local stakeholders and actors to meet the new and emerging challenges facing them is indispensable in order to remain relevant and deliver effective services to their grassroots communities at the intersection of peace, prosperity and sustainable planet.
Consequently, the last five years have witnessed endless killing, violence and communal clashes as well as the unprecedented depleting of natural resources in our local communities which led to over 180 deaths as a result of lead poisoning in local mining sites. The Niger delta region continued to be a reference point of environmental pollution and rising militancy.
The 774 Local Government Councils Sustainable Development initiative is designed on the premise that the workforce of the 774 Councils in Nigeria need effective competencies and relevant skills to gravitate from the vicious cycle of wanton wastages, rapacious greed, cesspit of corruption, endless communal conflict, administrative quagmires and unparallel plundering of human and natural resources to virtuous cycle of good governance, accountability, effective stakeholder engagement and sustainable human development and attainment of the sustainable development goals.
The proposed initiative framework is conceptualized to enable the 774 local councils achieve their primary responsibility sustainably. To bridge the skills/competencies gap to achieve peace, prosperity and sustainable planet, which focuses on ten thematic pillars.

Our beneficiaries are 774 local government Councils Stakeholders of the local Government systems in Nigeria and the local communities.

Having been directly involved in building the capacity of the target project group through the pilot contact with 6 local government councils out of the 774 in total, our proposed idea to work with the entire 774 through a series of 6 regional initiative and one grand finale national capacity building initiative would spur a new innovative solutions to solving the roots problems that seem to undermine peace, prosperity and sustainable planet engagement.

Our organization, QUAESTRION & PLANUS is a registered capacity development firm with a passion to build local government stakeholders skills and competencies to achieve sustainable development goals. Currently, we are championing the local Government Autonomy project for the 774 councils in Nigeria. we designed and manage the National Union of Local Government Employees website and social media campaign for the autonomy project. Going by the development strides of local government system in my country Nigeria since independence in 1960, there is little or nothing to show for over 57 years of existence. There are no best practices, effective strategies, benchmarks, and sustainable policies that can serve as a guide for success. Engaging in a project like this would be the first time an initiative would be directed at the local government actors abd stakeholders leading to a national event.
Please explain how your selected topic areas are influenced, in the local context of your project (1,000 characters).
To successfully bridge Peace, Prosperity and Planet: Peace is influenced by farmers/herders clashes in the North East and North Central region. Prosperity would play a key role in helping the 774 local Government achieve sustainability in resources mobilization, planet would tackle the unprecedented desertification challenge in the North, environmental pollution in the Niger Delta in the south.

While developing the concept of the project, we shared the idea with some key consulting firms and Non governmental organisation as well as some government agencies directly saddled with some of the key areas of project focus and they were excited to work as project technical partners.

With overwhelming unemployment in Nigeria, the target communities where the project would be implemented have qualified youths who would willingly volunteer to make the project field work successful.
The project would be carried out in the each of the six Geo-political zones and a national event.
